Why I chose to become a translator and interpreter

The year was 2002. I had tried - and failed- entering Vet school and was evaluating my options as a student at the University of Costa Rica. English has always been a natural thing for me, kind of a gift. My mom inherited me the ability to talk and listen at the same time. She also taught me customer service and time optimizing skills from a very tender age. Being an industrial engineer, it was the right thing to pass to her offspring. Being polite was not an option, it was the only way to make a living! Thus, interpreting came as a natural carreer for me, an obvious path in life.

I majored in English for Translating from the University of Costa Rica in 2007, and right away started my job as an over-the-phone interpreter at LanguageLine. In the same year I married my wonderful husband and together have volunteered as Jehovah's Witnesses in Pérez Zeledón for six years.

I highly enjoy English - Spanish interpreting. I find helping people overcome cultural and language barriers extremely satisfying.

Currently I combine my work as a translator and interpreter with volunteering, especially reaching English speakers in Perez Zeledon.

I will make whatever possible for you to be satisfied with my work. Further, I promise professional and courteous business at all times.
